My Chiropractic Story

I’ve grown up in a chiropractic family so for me, getting adjusted has always been a way of life. I’ve been lucky enough to see and hear the benefits and success stories in the patients that my father has treated for the past twenty eight years.

Although I had been exposed to chiropractic and adjusted my whole life, I never really had a firm grasp on how it works until I went to chiropractic school. You see, it was always very basic for me; you get adjusted and you get better. In school though, I found out that our spine has a normal and optimal position.

When your spine is in this position, all of the neural tissue, including your spinal cord and the roots to your peripheral nervous system, function as they should. However, when the spine moves away from this position and becomes ‘subluxated’, pressure and stress is placed onto these various tissues and the function of our nervous system is debilitated. Most of the time this manifests in the ‘Big 3’ i.e., neck pain, back pain, and headaches; but when you consider how important our nervous system is to the normal functioning of our body, the benefits of chiropractic can be much more profound and far reaching. Our goal here is to restore a patient’s spine to that normal position or as close to normal as possible, through adjusting, exercise, and traction.

During my time at chiropractic school, I heard of and saw patients who recovered and improved from all sorts of conditions following chiropractic treatment; improvement in chronic ear infections in an infant, improvement in ADHD symptoms in an adolescent, successful conception in a female patient who had suffered with infertility for years, improvement in recovery in a former drug addict, and improvement in Alzheimer’s symptoms in an elderly patient to name a few. It’s my goal in joining Advanced Back and Neck Pain Center to continue the 28 year tradition set by my father of treating patients successfully and with respect, and I’m very much looking forward to doing it!

My Background

I was born in Davenport, IA but moved to Delaware when I was very young and have lived here for most of my life since then. I went to St. Mark’s High School, and then obtained an Advanced Major in Biology and Business Administration from St. Francis Xavier University. After working in Delaware for a few years, I decided to begin my chiropractic career and moved to Atlanta to attend Life University. I graduated cum laude in March of 2014 with a Doctorate of Chiropractic and now live back in Wilmington with my wife Mandy, my daughter Riley, my son Sam, and my Boston Terrier, Dexter. In my free time I enjoy exercise, listening to and playing music, movies, reading and hiking.

I’ve also been fortunate enough to have some of my original research published over the past few years. You can access some of my published work here:

So this is a concise version of who I am, but I’m more interested finding out about you and how we can help you. If you’re interested in chiropractic and have any further questions, please feel free to call us directly and we will be happy to help in any way we can!
