What to Expect

Since chiropractic care involves a series of visits, with each one building on the ones before, it’s important that our relationship can go the distance. We’ve found that one of the best ways to have successful patient relationships is to explain everything in advance. No surprises!
Your First Visit
Make Yourself at Home
You will be greeted warmly and made to feel welcome as soon as you enter Advanced Back & Neck Pain Centers. You will be asked to sign in and then directed to our desk to fill out new patient paperwork. The following information may be requested:
- medical background
- medication lists
- photo id
- health insurance card
- oswestry form
If you are referred to Newark chiropractor for an accident; worker’s comp or a motor vehicle accident, then it will be necessary to complete additional paperwork. If time allows you may be asked to fill it out at this visit or we will send it home with you to be brought back upon your second visit.
We Explain Everything First
After the paperwork portion of the first visit is completed, you will be taken to one of our back rooms to discuss further any medical history questions. You will also meet Dr. Richard McKay or Dr. Shaun Rinow for your chiropractic consultation. Once all has been explained and your questions have been answered we will get you started on the path to reduce your pain/problem on this first visit with in-office therapy and at-home care recommendations.
If the doctor deems it necessary, you may have x-rays taken. Before leaving your initial visit, you will be escorted to our therapy station for some electric stim and/or cold laser therapy. At the therapy station, the patient is given a packet to take home with important chiropractic information. Ice therapy is explained, as well as answering any questions you may have regarding anything that happens in the office or what to expect in the beginning and all subsequent office visits.
Once you have agreed to the care plan we have proposed and before leaving your first visit you will be asked to schedule part two of your consult at the front desk. We will make sure that you have ice packs at home or we will provide them if necessary.
- Second Visit. We’ll report what we found and answer all your questions.
- Regular Visit. A typical visit will be much shorter, but just as important!
